Christmas shopping fair on Monday, Nov 11th, 2012 at the Conrad Hotel ballroom, Hong Kong

 

 

This is one of the best shopping fairs in Hong Kong! You can find great deals on toys, kids clothing, jewelry, trinkets, festive food items, cashmere throws and blankets, baby gifts, book and fashion accessories. Vendors are mostly indie designers, small vendors and exporters so products are well priced and better value than what you would find in the shopping malls in Hong Kong .

 

For the past several years there has been a vendor of factory over runs of Italian-style  leather boots selling from HK$250/pair.  I hope they are back this year!

This December, we follow Little Red Riding Hood on her journey through the woods as she searches for true love, tries to avoid being eaten by the Big Bad Wolf, and gets fed up with her parents. The villagers are living in the shadow of the Wolf, but in true panto fashion they sing and dance their troubles away – with a bit of help from a Dame-shaped visitor from far far away.

Hong Kong Players' annual pantomime features a brand-new script, fabulous songs, and will need a lot of cheering and booing from the audience! The recent Lamma Ferry Tragedy has shocked us all and our hearts go out to those who were directly involved. When a sudden disaster happens so close to home, it often triggers feelings of anxiety over our own mortality. Parents can empathise all too easily with the absolute horror that must have faced those parents with children on the sinking ferry. People who are weak swimmers may suddenly become anxious about traveling on ferries, and children can become extremely nervous, suffering from sleeplessness as they cannot make sense of the stories they hear.
