Budget maternity wear in Hong Kong

For mums-to-be that don't want to spend too much on their maternity wardrobe, here is a nice little shop that I just stumbled upon yesterday. Its not specifically a maternity shop but they carry some pieces suitable for up to 9 months. The best item here are their comfy maternity jeans with the stretch tummy panel. I bought a pair in black for just HK$99! Other great finds include maternity sweat pants, over sized bell shaped knit sweaters that can be worn both before and after giving birth. This is a shop that gets new stock every week so you need to dig around a bit for some great finds!

Cooking lessons in Hong Kong for domestic helpers for authentic Italian and Japanese cuisines

Since hiring a full time domestic helper at home, I’ve been a huge proponent of training.  Many people complain that their helpers can’t cook for them but the funny thing is that they haven’t bothered to train the helpers properly or invested in any lessons! Since I’m unable to train my helper myself for a wide range of cuisines (as well as being quite busy on the career-front!). I’m a big fan of professional cooking lessons for helpers. I just love these guys! Marco and his brother Stefano regularly holds cooking lessons at their Aberdeen cooking school . During the day they can hold private lessons for helpers. I sent my helper there recently to learn to cook gnocchi (potato pasta) with gorgonzola sauce and Naples style pizza.  You can request lessons for almost any type of Italian dish. They are very Italian in their style and passion for food!

Private lessons for helpers start from $300 HKD per dish which includes the ingredients. You can organize a couple of helpers to share the cost of the lesson.  Please email Marco/Stefano for a quote on requested dishes you want taught.

Recommended alteration shop for evening gowns and fine fashion in Hong Kong

 

 

Hong Kong side streets are full of clothing alteration stalls which are fine for shortening jeans, taking in or letting out casual inexpensive clothing. But with your evening gowns or expensive designer outfits you need to be careful and go to somone who has experience in handling better clothing and difficult fabrics such as silk chiffon. 

 

I highly recommend Ann & Bon in Melbourne Plaza in Central. Ann is experienced in all aspects of alterations and can handle more complicated clothing modifactions/alternations including shortening bodices, tailoring a readymade jacket with lining to your figure, adjusting sleeve caps/arm holes, changing lapel collars, altering postion of darts and re designing necklines.
