I only recently discovered shopping at the chain of 759 discount stores and I love the fact that the product mix is always different and you will never know what gems you can find just browing through their aisles. For those not familrar with this retailer, 759 is a Hong Kong based chain that only started a few years ago but has grown to over 160 stores.
The stores stock mostly Japanese and Korean food, drinks, personal care and household goods. But is increasingly offering items imported from Europe. They work on a direct import model and I suspect they secure very low prices on vendor's excess stock. So the products dont really stay on the shelves long and there is constant turnover. Its usually the case that if you dont buy somthing today it will be gone in a few days time and they may or may not have it in stock in future.
This weekend the stores are offering a 10 to 30% discount when you bring your member card. I got the card when I made a purchase over $300 on my first visit.
Yesterday I managed to get 2 Ovation brand
free range lamb racks for just over HK$200 (600 grams) and some Tuscan pastas for $6/pack, packs of herbal teas (24 bags) from Europe for $12/box
and Scottish Smoked Salmon for $60/pack.
and Scottish Smoked Salmon for $60/pack.
I also saw great deals on Swiss chocolates, liquers, spanish and italian sauces/preserves and Canadian lobsters and crabs. The place can be full of surprises but try to go in with no expectation.
