Healthy dining for a good cause.

Last week some friends of mine took me to a quaint, modern Chinese style vegetarian restaurant in Wanchai.
The eatery was set up by the Hong Kong Movie Stars Sports Association
Happy Veggies often hires deaf and hearing impaired individuals to carry out certain jobs

Their menu boosts an impressive selection of soups, stews, main dishes with or without tofu, and my favourite... grilled giant mushroom cap filled with an assortment of sauteed mushrooms. It is a delight that Papa Smurf would love!

Average cost for dinner is approx HK$120 per person

Restuarant week in Hong Kong next month!

Each winter I look forward to my January trip to NYC which coincides with New York City Restaurant Week -January 16- February 10, 2012 (Monday – Friday).  Well known eateries offer diners prix fixe menus at a fraction of the regular price. ie:  3-course lunches for under US$25.

Now the concept is picking up in HK… for the 2ndyear we will have our very own restaurant week: HONG KONGRESTAURANT WEEK from Feb 20-26th

The concept is simple. Enjoy a (minimum) 3 course lunch/dinner at one of the participating restaurants in Hong Kong. They serve an exclusive menu for Restaurant Week guests only.

Reservations can ONLY be made online at www.restaurantweek.hk from 2 February 10am onwards. Set your alarm clock to snag a spot in one of top restaurants at a fraction of the regular price!

Last year, dinner at Michelin starred Bo Innovation were booked out within 15 minutes! http://www.restaurantweek.hk/

I know that in Hong Kong its insanely difficult to buy high quality but plain bed linens at reasonable prices... crazy floral patterns found at Wing On are just not my cup of tea!

A 400 thread count bed set ( with pillow cases, flat sheet and duvet cover) start at just US$159
