Anxiety and Stress over the recent Lamma Ferry Tragedy
Free sessions in October with one of our psychologists
The recent Lamma Ferry Tragedy has shocked us all and our hearts go out to those who were directly involved. When a sudden disaster happens so close to home, it often triggers feelings of anxiety over our own mortality. Parents can empathise all too easily with the absolute horror that must have faced those parents with children on the sinking ferry. People who are weak swimmers may suddenly become anxious about traveling on ferries, and children can become extremely nervous, suffering from sleeplessness as they cannot make sense of the stories they hear.
Here at Dr Susan Jamieson and Holistic Central Medical we would like to offer a free session in October with one of our psychologists Dr Sharmeen Shroff and Dr Nathalie Lawrence for those suffering from stress, anxiety, insomnia or grief over the incident, whether you are directly or indirectly involved. Dr Susan Jamieson is also available for a free consultation if you would prefer to talk with an experienced family doctor.
Insomnia is our bodies' natural response to stress. The body stays awake because the mind keeps it that way. The only way to stop insomnia is to relax the body so deeply that sleep naturally takes over whilst keeping the conscious mind occupied with something else.
By definition, hypnosis creates a state of deep relaxation whilst keeping the conscious mind occupied. It is actually a completely natural state in which we are in several times a day.
Some people associate hypnosis with stage acts where manipulation is used. This stereotype conveys the impression that hypnosis is about losing control, when in fact it is about gaining control.
If you are looking for a sleep aid that can help you relax, reduce anxiety and teach your subconscious mind new habits to get better sleep, hypnosis could be just what you're looking for.
